Winners seem to be like London buses. You don’t have any in what seems like forever and then 4 come around in the space of a few weeks – not that I’m complaining! Pippa’s help is certainly paying off!
Jalifia has a hat-trick (West Wilts, Borde Hill and Wellington) of wins before heading to Cornbury this weekend for her first novice. Patito had 2 great placings before winning at Wellington as well – she also steps up a level at Cornbury. Our homebred IE Mr McGregor – Monty to his friends- was fantastic at his first ever event to finish 6th after a great dressage and double clear – hopefully a star in the making. It seems rather bizarre to think we are already in September and the event season is soon drawing to an end, even though it feels like it’s only just started! I just really really REALLY hope this Winter isn’t as wet and horrible as the last.
We have been starting to get through some jobs that needed sorting before the winter draws in; replacing roof sheets, making sure we have enough logs etc etc. We will have a busy few weeks until about mid-October, when we plan on finishing the season but it does depend a little bit on the weather gods… then it will be time to continue the education of the younger horses whilst we can still get out on the grass.
