Applications Open For Young Eventers Pathway Day

Applications Open For Young Eventers Pathway Day

The, newly re-branded, Wesko Equestrian Foundation is also extending its support to young event riders with the introduction of the Young Eventers Pathway.

The Young Eventers Pathway launches 15th – 16th March where the Foundation will welcome upwards of forty young event riders (between 21 and 28 years of age) to a funded training day at the British Showjumping Training Centre, Hothorpe.  Riders will benefit from expert coaching from Philip Surl, Richard Waygood, Matt Lanni, and Nikki Herbert, along with gaining access to the Foundation’s wider support team.

The first of the two days will welcome members of the Foundation’s Academy, along with those riders who applied to the full-time programme in 2021.  This day will focus on supporting riders at 3* and 4* level.

The second of the two days offers support to a wider range of riders with applications being opened publicly to riders with Novice MERs.

“The goal at the heart of the Foundation has always been, and continues to be, to bring increased education and training to talented young event riders to help support their futures.  Up until now we’ve focused on those competing at 3* level and above.  The introduction of the Young Eventers Pathway will now help us to extend support to an increased number of young riders, who are working their way through the levels of eventing” commented Mariachiara Apruzzese, Foundation CEO.

The addition of the Young Eventers Programme comes at the same time as the addition of The Outreach Programme. The Outreach Programme’s most recent step to support The Ebony Horse Club will see the Foundation facilitate a day of lessons and interaction with world number 3, and Foundation ambassador, Tim Price.  The Foundation looks to pledge further support to the true grassroots of eventing, whilst also looking abroad to those young riders from emerging nations looking to gain access to the sport of eventing.

The Wesko Equestrian Foundation has played a key role in supporting the careers of several young riders over the past 3-years, including the recent successes of Blenheim Palace International CCI4*L winner Yasmin Ingham (GBR), and 3rd placed Susie Berry (IRL).

Riders wishing to apply for the Pathway day on the 16th March should complete the application form via the below link by midnight on the 25th February.
