Connie Copestake’s start of the season

And we’re off..!

It’s all systems go here now that the event season has started!

In our first weekend eventing we had our four top horses running. We began at Oasby, where Challenge Z won his BE100 section. He is such a lovely young horse and I’m excited for his future. A huge thank you to BEDE events for near perfect going on a weekend where many organisers struggled and had to abandon.

We then turned the lorry round and made our way to Poplar Park with the ‘A Team’. My top horse El Kolibri had a great spin round the Open Intermediate to finish 9th. I had my first run on Susanna Lye’s Jana De Cavaignac who was super to land 3rd in the Open Novice. Also in the Open Novice wasmy old time campaigner Aprobanta who finished up in 6th. It was a great chance to test out my new Windrush colours, kindly provided by Treehouse Sporting Colours. They are super smart and so far have proved lucky.. 4 Horses, 4 Double Clears and 4 Top Ten Finishes!

Great to have these four horses back out and feeling so well gearing up for our first International at Thoresby Park. They really benefited from training with Pippa earlier in the year. Arriving back at night after a days eventing, I had the opportunity to practice one of Pippa’s top stable management tips – trotting horses up that evening straight off the lorry. Normally we trot horses up in the morning, but by trotting in the evening it allows you to spot early warning signs allowing you to remedy it straight away.

Next up we have Lincoln Horse Trials with the young guns, let’s hope our luck continues!
