To say we’ve had a disrupted start to the season would be an understatement. Unfortunately due to the situation with Covid-19 all British Eventing events have been cancelled for the time being. First and foremost I want to thank everybody on the ‘front line’ working tirelessly to save lives. I think that we all need to do our bit to help delay the spread of this horrible virus.
Thankfully we managed to get one run in before the season was abruptly halted. Collien P 2 and Elstar ran really well at Poplar Park to both finish in the top 10. We have been working really hard over the winter on Colliens’ flying changes and with my dressage trainer’s, Marion King, attention to detail – we now have clean changes on both reins! Our Badminton entry went in and 3 days later they announced the event had also fell foul of the endless list of cancellations. Of course we all know it was likely but when you have a horse fit and ready it is still a blow to the whole team.
Having been training hard over the winter months it will be nice to take a breather and take the pressure off the horses for a couple of weeks before getting stuck back into it. Who knows when we will get back competing but for now there are fields to harrow, roll and reseed and a long list of other jobs so I’m going to make the most of this self imposed isolation, so when we get the green light we can hit the ground running.
The good thing is the ground is starting to dry up and we’ve even had a re-Union with the sun!
A huge thank you to my loyal sponsors and owners for their support during this difficult time.
Will
